What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is one of the most sought after cannabinoid from the hemp plant. CBD is extracted from cannabis, does not get you high and can be absorbed multiple ways throughout your body.
What’s The Buzz Around CBD?
That’s probably why you’re here, now. There’s no question that CBD, or cannabidiol, has gained popularity recently. So much so that even video stores are selling it! But what’s all the fuss? There are certainly a lot of questions around what it is, and what it isn’t. That is why we’re here to give you some insight into a product that you’ve been hearing all about!
Where Does CBD Come From?
The easiest place to start is, well, the beginning! Cannabidiol is extracted from cannabis plants, specifically the flower also known as the “bud”. Hemp is a popular choice for producers because it naturally contains a high concentration of CBD, and low concentrations of THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the notorious psychoactive compound that elicits a “high” like euphoria. Solvents, heat, pressure, water or a combination of these are then used to pull out the CBD from the plant material. The end result is the high quality CBD used in our Tinctures, Topicals, and Pets line!
What CBD Isn’t
I’m sure many questions come to mind about what CBD really is, but it’s easier to dispel the biggest misconceptions by telling you what it isn’t.
CBD companies that are federally compliant don’t use CBD derived from marijuana. It is always derived from organically grown hemp!
As mentioned earlier, though they both come from the cannabis sativa, CBD is not THC. Because of the low concentrations of THC in cannabis plants grown for CBD production, it’s easy to harvest large yields of CBD and still be federally compliant with the low THC requirement of no more than 0.3% THC.
To further put your mind at ease, CBD isn’t addictive. The World Health Organization (WHO) published a report that states, “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.” specifically in humans.
Wholesome Supplements CBD:
There are several types of CBD, but we only use the highest quality extracts in our recipes for the organic tinctures and salves we make.
THC-Free Broad Spectrum - A large range of cannabinoids, and other plant compounds from the cannabis plant, is much better for the overall internal benefits from CBD because our body uses all the compounds synergistically resulting in less of a demand of CBD for the same results. This is known as the entourage effect. We chose our THC-Free Full Spectrum CBD with the entourage effect in mind so that you, the customer, have the best product possible to encourage internal balance! Another important consideration is that most THC-Free tinctures are made with isolate instead of distillate. The THC-Free distillate we use is three times more money but our prices are still the most affordable on the market! This is another way you know we are here to help people in need.
Full Spectrum - Full Spectrum CBD is the closest extract to the plant concerning refinement. It is typically extracted from the plant by means of ethanol extraction or CO2 extraction. We choose to use CO2 extracted CBD in our tinctures because CO2 is non-polar. Thus, during the extraction process it doesn’t bond to the extra plant matter that isn’t essential; making the final CBD extract much cleaner and more concentrated. Therefore, it is packed with the essential oils we are looking for to ensure that all the compounds necessary for the entourage effect to take place are available.
CBD Can Be Absorbed In The Body Through Various Forms:
Topical Method
One way CBD can be absorbed in our body is by applying CBD products to the skin. Some topicals include: Salves, Organic Lotion and Bath Bombs.
Sublingual Method
Another way that CBD can be taken is by placing CBD Oil under your tongue for up to 60 seconds. This method helps your body instantly absorb the CBD into your blood stream. We offer 216 different kinds of Tinctures: THC-Free Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum.
Ingestive Method
Through using Water - Emulsified CBD, CBD can be absorbed after swallowed. This method takes longer to get into the blood stream because it passes through the first pass metabolism. These are our edible products: Gummies, Supplements, and Fizzy Tabs.
